Council unanimously adopts 2026 budget and amends veterans' tax code

NJ BUTLER — Butler Council unanimously adopts 9.6 million dollar budget and disabled veterans tax exemption. The Mayor and Council adopted Resolution 2026-77 establishing the 2026 municipal budget of $9,677,838.36, authorizing a 1 percent appropriation increase of $328,780.39 within the state cap-bank framework, with all four present voting members in favor; Councilmen Meier and Piccirillo were absent. The Council unanimously passed Ordinance 2026-06 establishing property tax exemptions for veterans rated 100 percent permanently disabled by the Veterans Administration and for surviving spouses, effective upon application approval with no retroactive refunds.

The Council also unanimously approved a pump station and water main easement with KRG Butler Kinnelon LLC to connect the borough's water supply to the Newark Aqueduct.
