NJ BUTLER — Butler Council introduces budget-cap override for 2026 spending. The Borough Council unanimously approved introduction of Ordinance 2026-05 on April 21, which would allow municipal appropriations to rise 3.5 percent instead of the state-mandated 2 percent cap. The increase amounts to $328,780.39 in additional 2026 spending, with authorization for an additional $140,905.88 in unappropriated cap exceptions for future years.

The Council also approved introduction of the 2026 Municipal Budget and a revised disabled veteran property tax exemption ordinance, all advancing to public hearing May 19.
