Butler Council Approves Water Operator Appointment, Grant Applications

NJ BUTLER — Butler Council unanimously approves Water Treatment Plant Operator appointment, twin grant applications. Mayor Ryan Martinez presided as the council appointed Matthew Topp to the Water Department position effective February 18, 2026, at $35.67 per hour under the Blue Collar Union Agreement. The council also approved participation in the state Safe and Secure Communities Program for approximately $45,150 in state funding and a $438,242 local match and authorized application for a $75,000 Local Improvement Recreation Grant to improve Stonybrook Recreational Facility.
The council agreed to pursue a transfer of an inactive Butler liquor license to neighboring Kinnelon Borough for use in a redevelopment project near Meadtown Plaza.
